The book is about a girl named Lily Bloom who moved to Boston to start a new chapter in her life. One night, she meets a guy named Ryle Kincaid. Lily develops feelings for Ryle, and they decide to get married. During their relationship, Ryle begins to get violent. Then, Atlas Corrigan, Lily’s first love, reappears in her life.

People like this book because they feel emotional connections to the events and the characters. According to senior Ava Stein, she liked this book because of the emotional rollercoaster.

Most readers also were not expecting the major plot twist, and that is another reason why they love the book. Freshman Ashley Brown decided to read the book because she saw it on TikTok.

I love this book because it brought back my love for reading. It made me feel things I did not know I could feel. Throughout the book, I was feeling a lot of emotions all at once. In the beginning, my heart was beating so fast because I loved Ryle and all the good things he was doing for Lily. I was thinking to myself ‘omg this is the perfect boyfriend,’ and the whole time I was reading this book, I was similing wide. Then, it got to the middle of the book, and I wasn’t smiling anymore because I was disappointed in the character. At the end, I was balling my eyes out and crying. I was not expecting the plot-twist at all. After reading this book, I was devastated, and I no longer believed in love. Love does not exist. There is no such thing.

People wanted to see more of Atlas and Lily’s relationship, so the author wrote a second book, It Starts With Us, which comes out Oct. 18. The popularity of this book also caused the makings of a movie which Justin Baldoni is producing, and the script for the movie is finalized.
