Winter Wonderlands

Walking in a winter wonderland is on everyones holiday agenda, and can be a reality with these festive Christmas light displays.

Christmas at the zoo is a festive experience. Ticket prices are typically around $32 for adults, the ticket includes a display of lights throughout the zoo from 5-10p.m on weekdays until Dec. 30. The zoo features reindeer, a Polar Pathway, as well as a Snowflakey Mirror Maze.

“The lights were everywhere and covered a lot of the zoo. They had different animal shapes made out of lights all over the exhibits as well. It made the experience more enjoyable, and all the lights also made a big impact on the trip because it was nice to see the zoo from a different perspective than normal. We walked through it and I preferred it like that because we got to see it more up close and indepth,”  freshman Gillian Semmler said.
Newfields Winterlights is a walk-through Christmas lights experience. The average ticket prices fall around $30 per person. Tickets are sold the entire month of December as well as the first week of January. Newfields Winter Lights is a merry experience for the family.

“I would say my overall experience at Newfields was really good. My family goes every year, and it’s always so fun and festive. The lights were all over the trees and they had extra light displays like animals and Christmas decorations,” junior Savannah Mccauley said.
Lights Under Louisville is a unique way to experience the holiday season as it is no typical light show. Lights Under Louisville is a Christmas light show put on completely underground in a cave. Ticket prices are $35 per car. Although the light show is nearly two hours away from Greenwood, it is still a fun way to spend the holiday season.
“There were lights hanging from the top of the cave and different characters displayed throughout the cave. I would describe the experience as very entertaining for every age as everyone in my family enjoyed it. It was a drive through experience, and I would prefer a drive through so it can be much easier,” sophomore Olivia Coss said.

Indianapolis’s Christmas Night of Lights is yet another wonderful way to experience Christmas cheer. Tickets are $30 per car for a light show synchronized to classic Christmas music displayed every night until Jan. 1. The light show is drive through only experience.

“The lights displayed at Christmas Nights of Lights were really cool. It was a drive through area and they had a radio station you would play in the car and the lights would sync with the song it was playing. It was a very fun experience,” sophomore Erika Hayden said.
