All students will receive one free breakfast and lunch every day this year.
This was all made possible because Greenwood applied for, a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). A partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Indiana Department of Education.
“The only reason we were able to supply these free meals is because of the Community Eligibility Provision. If we never applied and qualified for this, then none of this would’ve happened. So I want to give a big thank you to everyone who made this possible,” Ms. Leslie Hicks, Cafe Manager.
Students should still fill out the free breakfast and reduced lunch paper work as they could also receive other benefits. If they fill those out, a counselor will meet with them and figure out what is needed to help. These forms are available on the GHS homepage.
“It’s important for students to still fill out those forms so that they can get the help they need if they need it. The school is always here to help and has many options for families,” Ms. Hicks said.
Many people made this possible, but there was one person who seemed to be the most dedicated and fought the hardest for this. Ms. Hicks made many calls and pulled many strings for this to be possible.
“I mean everyone had a big part in this; everyone wanted this for the families. I’m so happy we were able to get this done. It means a lot to us, I love and treat these kids as if they were my own so I just want the best for them,” she said.
