Salutatorian

Salutatorian

Class after class, grade after grade, and A after A, Chris Remetta worked through to his senior year to achieve salutatorian honors.

The dedication required for such an honor is rigorous and requires the utmost attentiveness when it comes to school.

“I would say the biggest thing was staying focused for me. Not necessarily focusing on school solely but understanding a healthy balance was key for success in the class. I took a total of three AP classes and several dual-credit ones,” Remetta said.

Remetta has boasted excellent grades throughout his high school career and accounts that success to his balance and work ethic.

“I worked on school a lot, and I made a lot of sacrifices for my schooling success, and with these sacrifices, I was able to achieve a 4.61/4 GPA, 1490 on the SAT, and become salutatorian,” he said.

Remetta plans to attend college in the fall and satisfy his itch to learn through higher education.

“I plan to go to IU and study cinematic arts there. I’ve always had a passion for art and took film lit here, and IU has an excellent program for film and everything art so I am grateful to be able to go,” he said.

Cinematic Arts is a major part of the entertainment industry in today’s world, and Remetta plans to find his niche and leave his mark.

“I don’t know exactly what I would like to do after university, but I know that I want to work on movies. Whether that be through being a director or a screenwriter, I just want to be good at whatever I do,” he said.

Remetta does not take inspiration from other directors or attempt to follow in their footsteps; he does look to learn from them and their specific styles.

“I don’t want to be like certain directors, but I do like looking at their works and learning from it. People like Wes Anderson, Quentin Tarintino, and Christoper Nolan, whom I would not call inspirations do supply my itch to learn and begin my career in the field,’ he said.

Perhaps, the most important part of graduation is the speeches held between the valedictorian and salutatorian, and he feels ill-prepared for the moment.

“I definitely should have already been writing one, but I think it’ll be more of a night before quick write. I plan to just outline the school and show my gratitude to my family, friends, and teachers. The biggest thing for me is to just enjoy it because I’ve worked hard and deserve it. I want to enjoy my six minutes of fame and leave everyone there with something they didn’t know or have when they came in,” he said.
