FNL themes and Student Section leaders
Student section leaders are emphasizing school spirit by making sure everyone is following the themes.
At the end of the last school year, the 2023-24 student section leaders passed down the reins to seniors Nick Pruett, Sam Thompson, Ethan King, and Carter Chatham. Pruett and King dedicated time to planning themes for the football season.
“Last weekend, I went over to Nick’s house, and we started typing out themes. We tried to match up the themes with the opponents, like country for the Martinsville game,” King said.
Everything students need to know about the dates and themes of games are posted on Instagram. Some proposed themes are USA, White-out, Halloween, and Green and Gold.
“We are going to make sure to be pretty active on the account, making sure to relay any changes in theme or dates to the rest of the school,” Pruett said.
The other leaders are more focused on encouraging school spirit at the games.
“I let Ethan and Nick handle the themes. I am going to be the guy who is making sure everyone stays on their feet for the games and are participating in the chants,” Chatham said.
Paying attention to information for the Homecoming game is important.
“In the past, we have done white-out for the Homecoming game, with either colored powder or silly string to throw/spray at halftime. We are unsure of which we will be able to do this year, but the information will be on Instagram,” Chatham said.
The leaders expect everyone to be on their feet, cheering at the games. The leaders are motivated to take home the banner this year.
“Nothing is worse than looking up and seeing underclassmen sitting down or on their phones not participating in the chants. This year either you participate or you sit somewhere else. Less is more when everyone has school spirit,” King said.
