Zoo Boo is this year’s best Halloween experience for little kids. The Zoo Boo offers kids trick-or-treating and a Halloween trip to the zoo.
Zoo Boo is located at the Indianapolis Zoo on 1200 W Washington St and is open from Sept. 25- Oct. 31. The activities of Zoo Boo run from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and on Fridays and Saturdays it runs from 2-9 p.m. Admission cost ranges from $15 a ticket to $34.75, depending on the date.
I went with my niece, and it was delightful. We went in the late afternoon, and plenty of lights and decorations promoted the Halloween spirit. There were picture locations with scarecrows and pirates walking around for little kids to interact with. At the pavilion, there were shops and mazes visitors could do. One of these shops included Leeward Manor, which kids could walk through, similar to a haunted house. It had Halloween decorations and witches inside. There was also live music and a DJ playing Halloween music.
Outside of the pavilion, people enter the exhibits of the zoo. Decorations are everywhere, and there were Halloween-themed drinks and food. The trick-or-treating was located in the Plains area of the zoo. Throughout the area, there were trick-or-treating stations located between the exhibits. My niece got plenty of candy. Make sure to bring a bag to carry it all. Workers were also talking about how they plan to start a new adoption program for the black ZooBoo cats at the pavilion.
I enjoyed walking through the exhibits with all of the Halloween-spirited decorations, and it gave off the Halloween mood. However, I do think that the Zoo Boo is highly targeted towards younger children like my niece. She had a lot of fun and dressed up in a Disney princess costume. If others do go to Zoo Boo, I recommend going with younger siblings or nieces and nephews. I also recommend that they wear costumes and visit at night when it is dark and the decorations are displayed.
