Residents will get into the Halloween spirit for the annual Halloween Parade.
Greenwood’s 5th annual Halloween parade will take place tomorrow at 5 p.m. through downtown Greenwood.
“We started this parade during COVID in 2020, and it was a way for people to step out of their houses for once and enjoy something as a community during a rough time,” Mr. Troy Daily, tournament and event coordinator for Greenwood Parks and Recreation, said.
Approximately 15 small and large businesses will participate.
“The Johnson County GOP has their float with the logo. We decorate it with orange Christmas lights. We will also play Halloween music from a playlist,” Mrs. Beth Boyce, Johnson County GOP Chairman, said.
Many people and organizations get involved with the parade.
“We joined the parade because we think it is important to get involved with the community and to be a safe space,” Mrs. Melisa Roberts, Goldfish Swim School assistant manager, said.
The parade is also a good way for these businesses and organizations to get more exposure.
“Our staff is decorating the float, and the staff will also be on the float. We also have some staff that invited some of the students to help decorate the float and maybe be on the float. Our goal for our float being in the parade is to get some exposure and to get a bigger name for ourselves,” Mrs. Roberts said.
There are other bigger goals, too.
“We joined the parade because we are representing the Republican party in Johnson County and it’s beneficial to the candidates to get their names out there,” Mrs. Boyce said.
