Every day, students rush out of the building to make their way to work, sports, or home, and with this hustle and bustle, some students need to pay more attention to the cleanliness of their vehicles.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, some students gain the notoriety of being neat freaks.
Due to the harsh schedules many of them endure, student-athletes commonly leave clothes, bags, and food wrappers in their cars.
“In my car, I have a lot of clothes because of football. A lot of times I will be sweaty after practice, and if I have to go somewhere or just don’t feel like taking them in, I will just leave them in the back of my car,” senior Waveland Goodrich said.
Many students also provide rides for others, and with that comes some mess. Whether it be from water bottles after practice or papers from the school day, passengers often leave their mark in cars.
“I sometimes take Jeremiah to school, and usually he leaves his breakfast or maybe just a water bottle in my car. Either way, though, it’s annoying having to clean his mess on top of mine,” Goodrich said.
With clean freak drivers, rules can exist.
“In my car, I don’t allow food. If we go through a drive-thru or something, you can keep it on the floor, but no one’s is allowed to eat in there. My biggest concern is that what goes in must come out, so if they bring in a drink, cup, or bag of food, it leaves with them,” senior Isaac ONeal said.
Keeping a car clean is not that difficult and requires only minimum effort; however, some drivers take it to the extreme.
“I don’t keep anything in my car. There is nothing in my trunk or back seats unless I put it there for the day. Every week I take the car up to Crew, though, to get the outside cleaned, and generally, I clean the inside or have a worker clean the inside,” ONeal said.
Junior Eliana Anderson, tries her best to keep her car extra clean.
“I know I have a nice car [White BMW], and I’m grateful for it. So with that, I try my best to keep both the outside and inside clean. I clean the inside and outside once a week, and during the summer, I get it detailed twice a month,” Anderson said.
Most cars in the parking lot are considered messy, and for many students, this is because of their busy lives.
“I never find time to clean my car between school and sports finding time to clean it over do something I want to is just difficult,” senior Ryann Marker said.
