2024 brought some of the most unforgettable movies of all time.
“Wicked,Moana 2,Twister 2 are by far the top three movies of all time. They all had really good storylines. I really liked how in Moana 2, she reunites with Maui to find this island that another God Sunk. The songs in Moana 2 are good but not as good as the first movie,” freshman Gabby Cave said.
It Ends With Us was popular in 2024, and this was senior Chloe Economou’s favorite
“It Ends With Us was my favorite movie of 2024. It was the best because it told a compelling story while also providing information on toxic relationships, which made it very interesting. It Ends With Us was similar to the movie preview, but it was a lot different from the book. The book just had a lot more detail,” she said.
That was not the only movie that stood out to Economou.
“My top 3, including It Ends With Us are Wicked. This is my second favorite that I saw in 2024.It’s the back story of the witches from the Wizard of Oz. It is a musical, which is not something I would typically be interested in. I always watched the Wizard of Oz as a kid, and this gave me a different perspective on the original story. The songs were not my favorite, but they were very catchy. I also liked Smile 2. It was almost the same as the first one, but the first one was better,” she said.
Another movie students seemed to enjoy was Deadpool and Wolverine.
“My favorite movie was Deadpool and Wolverine. I loved it because I am a really big fan of action movies and Deadpool movies are always super funny. This was probably the only movie I even watched in 2024. It kept me very entertained because Deadpool and Wolverine are so opposite, Deadpool is funny and not serious while Wolverine hardly jokes around. They also have not made a movie with Wolverine in it since 2017, and growing up, Wolverine was my favorite superhero,” sophomore Aiden Towles said.
Dune Part Two was senior Travarius Nolan top movie of 2024.
“I did not think there were that many great movies that came out in 2024, but Dune Part Two was the best of all of them. It’s a sequel to another Dune, and it starts where they left off. He is trying to claim his family’s honor. It has great special effects. They also have a strong cast, Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, and Christopher Walken. This is just a great cast,” he said.
Nolan also talked about a movie called Civil War. He claimed it was not like the preview.
“From the preview, I was not expecting the movie to end or be like that, but I think it was a lot better than the preview had shown. I feel like it had an unexpected take on storytelling, but I liked it a lot more than I thought I would,” he said.
