Thrifting has taken over. Teenagers and young adults have found a new hobby: shopping for cheap items. The younger generation is saving money by shopping at places such as Abby Closet’s, Goodwill, The Salvation Army, and Plato’s Closet.
Goodwill is my favorite thrifting store. It has wonderful prices, and I find the best pieces while shopping here. My favorite feature of Goodwill is the bins. It is exciting to look through clothes with friends, hoping to find expensive, great-quality clothes for so cheap. I always find vintage clothes, and there is always old college apparel. I have found many brands, such as Lululemon and Aerie, that I can gift to my sister. I always leave with two or more bags of clothes.
Another store I like to shop at is the Salvation Army. A pro that The Salvation Army has to offer is that it is not nearly as packed. I love going to The Salvation Army for pants and blank clothing. They always have blank hoodies and shirts that can be used to make a great addition to outfits. Anytime I spot a Salvation Army, I stop by. The best item I have acquired over the years is a vintage Carhart jacket that I got $120 under retail.
Plato’s Closet is wonderful because the clothes are always in great shape. They also sell shoes, and I always find cheap, older-style Nike shoes in great condition. My favorite part about Plato’s Closet is that the employees are so welcoming. The inside is organized. My favorite item I have bought from this place is the Nike Air Max 270 Futura shoes in perfect condition.
My sister and mom love shopping at Abby’s Closet. They always come back home with piles of clothes. For Christmas, I and my sister and I surprised my mom with a Michael Kors bag from there. The bag was authentic, and it looked brand new. For my sister’s birthday, I gave her 150 dollars to spend and she left with several pairs of jeans and nice shirts that could be worn out to dinner.
Thrifting is a great way to save money and discover new styles.
