Trivia is a great way to engage people’s minds and test their knowledge about random topics.
At GHS we have one teacher who is really good at trivia and has been playing a little Jeopardy game with his classes all year. Mr. Blaine Williams teaches 10th and 11th grade English as well as a Film class, and playing this with his class gets his students a little more engaged.
“My favorite part about trivia is a couple of things from being able to compete against other people with the same interests in you to the friendships and comradery of the players,” Mr. Williams said.
His dream is to be on the show Jeopardy. Mr. Williams was once a finalist for the show.
“The farthest and highest level I’ve ever competed at was the audition to be on Jeopardy. Although I didn’t make it, I would love to go back and try again since it’s been a while since I last tried out,” he said.
Most contestants on Jeopardy have been studying and training for the show their whole lives; others just know a lot about certain topics. It takes a lot of time studying and effort to become very good in so many topics and subjects.
“I have been doing trivia for as long as I can remember but just been doing live trivia for about five years at little restaurants and places. I have just always loved trivia, and I would say it is a big part of my life,” Mr. Williams said.
Now Mr. Williams only plays every once in a while at local bars and restaurants. He is also hosting the Service Club Trivia Night. Which is an event for students and parents to go and compete to win some prizes.
