Many teens have the same goal before reaching adulthood: solving a Rubix Cube.
Sophomore Danny Nelson is a teen who can say he has achieved that goal.
“During the lockdown of 2020, I never really had anything to do at home. But one day I saw my Rubix cube sitting on my desk, so I decided to start playing with it and try to learn how to solve it,” sophomore Danny Nelson said.
Many people can never figure out how to solve the cube without multiple tutorial videos; however, Nelson was different.
“I watched maybe a couple of videos, but I did not need much to learn how to solve my Rubix cube. I learned how to solve it pretty quick with a specific tip that I learned from one of the videos,” Nelson said.
Nelson is a quick learner, and the Rubix cube is the perfect example of that.
“Once I had learned how to solve it, I got into a thing called speed solving. Speed solving is when a cuber solves the cube as fast as they can. I practiced that for a while before I got really good at it. My best time ever is 16.23 seconds,” he said.
Nelson might be rusty when it comes to solving the cube, but he will never forget how to do it.
“I don’t really play with my cube anymore. I tried to start a club in 7th grade, but it did not go anywhere, so that started my decline of playing. However, every once in a while, I will see it sitting on my desk so I solve it,” Nelson said
