Universal Yums offered some snacks that we wanted to devour, others we actually spit out.
This world wide package of snacks comes with 6-20 snacks, costs $13.75 per box and is well worth the money. Other companies — such as Snack Crate, Munch Addict, Bokksu, Tokyo Treat, and Sakuraco — have tried to recreate what this company has but none come close to this delicious surprise.
As a group, we decided that our favorite candy was a chocolate ball called Delicato from Sweden. This was our favorite candy because the chocolate was super rich and had a taste that stood out past any American chocolate.
Our second favorite candy was a chocolate bar called a Gofrik Bar from Turkey. This one was interesting because it tasted like Dubai chocolate and a Kit-Kat combined. This definitely is a chocolate I would love to get in my Halloween bag.
The next fan favorite was the Cocoa Powder Truffles from France. These were kind of cylinder shaped and very soft. I was not a huge fan because I do not like dark chocolate, but everybody else loved it.
The coffee-flavored Snowball from Turkey was also delicious and one of my favorite sweets. It tasted like a Dunkin Donuts coffee infused with a Dunkin Donuts Munchkin. I would definitely eat this again.
The next best sweet was called Turkish Delight from Turkey. This came with multiple flavors, including rose, lemon, and orange. The orange and lemon were delicious. However, the rose flavored one was terrible. It tasted like I was eating a rose with dirt and hand sanitizer on it. I would not eat this ever again.
Next were the Spicy Mangoes from Spain and the Yum Bag from Turkey. The Spicy Mangoes were really good and were not as spicy as we expected. If I ate more than one, then that is where it got spicy. The Yum Bag was filled with tiny candies which tasted like chewy Jolly Ranchers or Sour Tootsie Rolls.
The last sweet that we tasted were these cough drop candies called Gicopa from Belgium. These were not bad at all until I bit into them. They tasted like I took a bite from a pine tree. The taste would not leave my mouth, and it was not a pleasant taste at all.
The sweets had ups and downs, but it was still fun to try all of these and compare them to our everyday American sweets.
The other snacks we tried were all salty. Our least favorite was a chocolate and coconut bar called Keyifce from Turkey. This looked kind of good but tasted terrible. It was dry and tasted nothing like milk chocolate.
The next salty snack was called Mee Krob from Thailand. These were comparable to a pack of uncooked Ramen. They were sweet and sour flavored and did not taste bad at all. These were pretty good.
Another snack we tried was Taylors Potato Crisps from the United Kingdom. They were black pepper flavored and came with a huge surprise. It turns out that these were made out of sheep intestine. Even though these actually did not taste bad, I will never be eating these again.
Our favorite salty snack was the garlic flavored pretzel pieces called Crackzel from Turkey. These tasted like croutons mixed with garlic bread and had a great crunch. It was better than any other salty snack I have found at the grocery store.
Overall, these snacks were good and fun to try.
