With spring sports seasons inching closer to the beginning, the seniors are reminiscing on the last 4 years.
“I am a little sad to know that I have to leave the friends I have made over the years of track, but I am honestly excited to see how well they do and what they end up doing. I know the end is near and all I can do is be excited for it and do the best I can,” senior Ryann Marker, distance runner, said.
Nick Pruett, senior baseball player, is looking forward to taking the field one last year with his guys
“I’m feeling a bit bittersweet about my senior season. I am sad because I know it is going to come to an end, but definitely excited to have the opportunity to take the field with my guys, but sad that it will be the last time,” Pruett said.
Senior golfer Davis Arthur has a different feeling with his senior season.
“I am hopeful for the upcoming season. I am hopeful that I will have a lot of success in my senior season. I am excited, and I think I am really going to enjoy my final season of golf here at Greenwood,” Arthur said.
Most people assume athletes are feeling upset for the end, but that assumption is wrong for Marker
“I am actually kind of excited for the end of the season. I want to do really well and end my high school career on a high note. I know I have tried my hardest and done my best, and I want to leave it all out on the track one last time. I will definitely miss the friendships made, however,” Marker said
Arthur can not be prouder of himself for his growth.
“I am very proud of myself and how far along I have come since my freshman year. I have been very proud of how well I have been able to grow with practices and matches. I can not wait for this season so I can have the best of them all.
Marker emphasized the big year she is hoping to have.
“I really hope I have a good final season this year. I have put in a lot of work the last 3 years and have spent a lot of time trying to be the best I can be. That is what this year is really all about,” Marker said.
Memories are some of the greatest things these seniors get to hold on to.
“My favorite memory, something I will never forget, is my bunt against Franklin Community. The team nicknamed it the bunt heard around the world, and it still gets brought up. It is kind of a joke, but I will never forget it,” Pruett said.
