The 2025 NFL draft is one of the if not the biggest draft of all time. It features a great amount of talent, and it will be impossible to make a bad pick in the first two rounds. The draft kicked off yesterday and will finish up tomorrow.
The latest mock draft was released on April 10, two weeks before the real draft. The teams with the Top 5 picks in order are the Tennesee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New England Patriots, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Top 5 players to be picked were quarterback Cam Ward, athlete Travis Hunter, edge rusher Abdul Carter, offensive tackle Will Campbell, and defensive lineman Mason Graham.
The Super Bowl 2024 champion, the Eagles, and the runner-up, the Chiefs, had the last two picks of the mock draft. Kansas City drafted Tyler Booker inside offensive lineman from Alabama after having a hard time stopping the Eagles defensive line in the Super Bowl. Philadelphia picked Mason Taylor a tight end from Louisiana State University also known as LSU to complete their overpowered offense.
The top picks and the most recognized players of the draft are Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, Shadeur Sanders, Will Campbell, Abdul Carter, and Ashton Jeanty.
Cam Ward led Miami to finish third in the ACC Conference and with a record of 10-3, barely being left out of the playoffs. Ward also was a Heisman trophy contender and won the Davey O’Brien Award and the Manning Award.
Travis Hunter is the star of the show and played both sides of the ball for Colorado. He played both sides of the ball and won many College Football awards including the Heisman.
Shadeur Sanders played quarterback for Colorado while being coached by his dad. He led the team to 9-4 and threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns, which won him the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Will Campbell played for LSU and was the best offensive lineman. He motivated his team by giving pregame speeches and pushing his teammates in workouts. He was filmed many times by LSU’s media crew as being a great teammate and would help out any team in the NFL.
Abdul Carter was named unanimous All-American and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year after a great performance for Penn State. He is one of the most talented defensive hybrid players switching back and forth between linebacker and edge rusher. He recorded 12 sacks on the quarterback and 68 overall tackles with 24 of those being a tackle for loss which makes him number one in the nation for that stat.
Ashton Jeanty had a breakout season almost breaking the rushing yards record held by Barry Sanders from 1988. Jeanty rushed for 2,601 yards on 374 carries, making him 28 yards shy of breaking the record. Jeanty was the runner-up in the Heisman race and would have won if he was not competing against a once-in-a-lifetime player.
Underrated players in the 2025 NFL Draft are Luther Burden III, Jaxson Dart, Emeka Egbuka, and Jack Sawyer.
Luther Burden III was the No.1 receiver for Mizzou and was expected to have a great year. Unfortunately, his team could not provide a rhythm and they lacked confidence after losing back-to-back over and over which affected his stats.
Jaxon Dart, Ole Miss quarterback, is a Top 5 quarterback in the draft and threw for 4,279 yards in a tough SEC Conference with defensive backs that could fly around the field.
Emeka Egbuka shared the ball with other great wide receivers at Ohio State and still produced great stats. He put up 1,011 yards with 10 receiving touchdowns.
Jack Sawyer made a massive positive impact on Ohio State and ended the year with 59 tackles and 9 sacks. In the National Championship, Sawyer forced a clutch fumble and took it 90 yards to execute a pick up and score to put the game out of reach for the Irish.
The 2025 most overrated players consist of Dillon Gabriel, Cam Skattebo, and Ollie Gordon II.
Dillon Gabriel had a decent year but was not able to take his team to the championship while having a stacked receiving core. He folded under pressure in the playoffs, causing him and Oregon to lose to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.
Cam Skattebo played for Arizona State who are in an awful conference. His team had an easy schedule which allowed them to get easy wins and somehow make it to the playoffs. In the playoffs, he only put up 143 yards against Penn State but somehow scored two touchdowns.
Overall, the 2025 Draft will be one to remember, and many players from this draft will be All-Pros or even Hall-of-Famers.
