Fall sports are getting started early. Coaches are booking field times to prepare their players for the upcoming season.
Sophomore Jacob Ling walks around with a soccer ball every day due to his excitement for the 2025 soccer season.
“My goals for this year are to do as well if not better than we did last season. We have been doing off-season training after school and lifting with Watson two times a day,” Ling said.
Junior Tyson Jones is going into his last high school football season and stepping up to play both sides of the ball for the Woodmen.
“I was asked by Boser to play tight end this season with my good friend Ethan Lobb, so we have been practicing before school for an hour and 30 minutes every Monday and Wednesday. We also play linebacker, so it is nice to have someone I can practice with to prepare for the season,” Jones said.
Sophomore Lola Trent is entering her third high school volleyball season and looking forward to having a great season with her new coach.
“We have three practices a week, and we are building our chemistry with the incoming players and players moving up to varsity. We also will participate in camps over the summer to play against other teams and learn from college and professional coaches,” Trent said.
Mr. Jerrod Watson helps year-round with sports. He runs a morning lifting program so teams can get in the gym before and after practices.
Football starts at 6 a.m., making them the first team in the weight room. They are followed by female athletes who want to lift. Lastly, boys who do not play football but play other sports can come in to lift. On Friday mornings at 9 a.m., all teams come together on the football field for speed and conditioning. These workouts help the athletes stay in shape.
