Ice cream is a superior staple in summer time traditions, so where is the best place to purchase the treat?
“My favorite ice cream place is Handel’s by far. They have my favorite cheesecake ice cream that no other place has. It is affordable and delicious,” junior Ameera Hooks said.
Unlike Hooks, sophomore Mahel Clouet prefers the local Mrs. Curls.
“Mrs. Curls is the best because of their atmosphere. I love the music they play, and their ice cream is always good. I always get a small Oreo Razzle, and it never fails to be delicious,” Clouet said.
Mrs. Curls have a variety of flavors, so some people change their orders frequently.
“I almost always get just a plain vanilla ice cream cone, but when I go to Mrs. Curls I get the chocolate vanilla swirl cone. No other ice cream place really has this, so I always get excited to go to Mrs. Curls,” sophomore Gavin Allen said.
The quality of the ice cream and the toppings is extremely important when choosing the place to go.
“My favorite ice cream place is Handels because it has my favorite cheesecake ice cream. They put real pieces of cheesecake in there, and it does not taste fake like some other places,” Hooks said.
Freshman Genevieve Schroeder agreed that Handel’s is the best ice cream place.
“Scooped ice cream is my favorite because it has the most flavor options. My favorite place to get it is Handel’s. The ice cream always has great flavor, and the texture is always good,” Schroeder said.
Clouet is a foreign exchange student, so he has experienced ice cream in France versus here in the U.S.
“I think that ice cream here is better, especially Mrs. Curls. In France, there are definitely more flavors, but in the United States, the atmosphere is better, and I like the locality. I can also get Oreo Razzles which I cannot get in France,” Clouet said.
