As the seniors walk out of school on their last day, they leave behind four long years of GHS memories.
“I think my favorite memory from high school was when I would cheer for basketball and football games my senior year. It was amazing to have time on the sidelines of sports with my friends and sister. Whether we were winning or losing, we always made the most of it,” senior Abigail Brooks said.
Memories in high school can form when students exceed their expectations, whether that’s in sports or academics.
“My favorite memory in school was when I hit the state standard in track and going into State. It was unexpected, and at first, I wasn’t supposed to, but I made it happen for myself. That was the most rewarding and favorite memory,” senior Jay Carter said.
Memories are made even when students are new to the school and just getting started.
“My freshman year lunch table was super fun, and since I had just moved to Greenwood, it had really helped me make new friends. I knew a couple people at the table, but eventually, I became friends with everybody which shaped my friends for the rest of high school. We messed around a lot at the table, and overall it was a great friend group,” senior Keegan Lane said. “Looking back at it now, freshman year doesn’t seem too long ago, and it doesn’t feel like I’m about to graduate.”
Students stem their relationships from teams they play on and turn into friendships.
“My favorite memories is from the friends I made in my first year of playing tennis. We became really good friends from playing and we hangout all summer my first year. We now go on yearly picnics in the summer to recall memories of our first years together,” senior Joelle Young said.
Other students have memories of faculty and teachers like Mr. Bruns as their funniest favorites in high school.
“My favorite memory of high school is when there was a fight in the cafeteria, and one of the teachers had yelled for Craig Bruns for help in the situation. She screamed ‘oh craig!’ It was one of the funniest moments and there was an edit made of Mr. Bruns and it is still one of the funniest moments at school,” senior Quintin Cain.
