Music is not just something people listen to; it is a reflection of who they are as people.
Music has diversified over the years, leading to many different preferences and favorites. Freshman William Russell has his favorite song, “Arms Wide Open” by Creed.
“It’s my mom’s favorite song and mine. I just really like the vocals of the song, I think it’s sung very well. It really evokes emotions,” Russell said.
Russel also takes an interest in the rock genre; it really resonates with him.

“Rock is my favorite genre by far probably because I have heard it all my life, and my mom loves it,” Russell said. “I prefer the 4/4 structure that Rock has.”
Everyone has different musical tastes, like sophomore Addisen Shepard, who has her favorite song, “B.E.D” by Jacquees.
“‘B.E.D’ is my favorite song because I just love songs that are slow and have good singing vocals. I listen to it all the time,” Shepard said.
Shepard likes to listen to a lot of R&B music. It’s what she has been listening to her whole life, and it’s her favorite genre.
“R&B is my favorite genre of music because there is a song for every mood and it gives me a song to listen to at any time,” Shepard said.
Some people like bass and fast-paced music, like sophomore Duncan Warren, whose favorite song is “A Cold Sunday” by Lil Yachty.
“It has a good beat, and it fits well when you’re working out or practicing for sports,” Warren said.
Warren listens to a lot of hip hop.
“Hip hop is my favorite genre of music because it always fits with my mindset and me working out and playing sports,” Warren said.
