The Homecoming dance is tomorrow, and GHS is buzzing with excitement. This year, students have experienced changes, such as a new Student Council coordinator and new Spirit Week themes.
With the dance being only one night away, the Student Council have prepared to make this year’s dance unforgettable.
“This year’s Homecoming is going to be very fun and exciting . This year, we were upset that we weren’t able to have our parade, but all other events, such as our powderpuff games and our unified football game, should go very well,” junior Cooper Hall, Student Council member, said.
Though students have been continuing traditions, the parade was not one of them.
“Unfortunately, this year we are unable to have our annual Homecoming parade. I’ve met with several people trying to work out a way for us to be able to host the parade, but due to the construction outside of the high school, we are unable to have it. We originally planned to have it somewhere else, but considering the amount of parents and students that show up, we decided to put student safety first and just not have it this year,” Mrs. Faith Stapleton, Student Council sponsor said.
Homecoming themes were the focus since the parade did not take place.
“This year’s Homecoming Week has been amazing so far and tomorrow night is looking like it is going to be one of our best Homecoming years yet. I love my Student Council and how supportive they have been. We have faced every challenge caused because of the construction very well and our cooperation has been fantastic since our Student Council numbers have skyrocketed recently,” Ms. Stapleton said.
