When senior Jackson Frahm won Fan of the Game, he was overjoyed.
He was bound to achieve this eventually, since he is currently boasting a 90 percent attendance rate of all fall sports.
“When it was announced that I got the Fan of the Game, it proved to me that there’s more to coming to the games than I thought,” Frahm said.
There are lots of benefits to showing up other than simply cheering on friends. Mrs. Andrea Campbell is in charge of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), which organizes these benefits.
“I would say our most important benefit for kids to know about is if they show up to 15 events for the fall season, there will be a pizza party organized by the SAAC,” Mrs. Campbell said.
But that is not all for what the SAAC does for the fans; there is more!
“We also do a Fan of the Game, where the two biggest fans of the game are drawn at halftime and get to sit on the field in reclining chairs. They also get a free sub from Cousin’s Subs,” Mrs. Campbell said.
Frahm is a known contender for every Fan of the Game award because he cheers on everyone at every game he goes to.
“I just like coming to the games to support my friends and school. It’s my last year here so I want to get all I can out of it,” Frahm said.
Sophomore Nick McCoy also has been Frahm’s Robin, showing up to all the games too.
“I come to the games because I like to show my support for the teams and I like to have a good time with other students who go as well,” McCoy said.
Frahm talked about his favorite game from this year so far.
“My favorite game I went to was Greenwood soccer vs. Whiteland. It was a lot of fun because of how well we did,” Frahm said.
McCoy was also at the game, cheering on his friends, but it turned out to be more meaningful than he thought.
“My favorite game I’ve gone to was the soccer game against Whiteland because it was super exciting to watch and the crowd that was there was very energetic and fun. My favorite moment from a game ever was when we rushed the field after beating Whiteland in the soccer game,” McCoy said.
