The foreign language students will be exploring many different countries during Spring Break.
Mrs. Mindi Ward, Spanish teacher, offers this experience for students to explore new countries.
“I am most excited to go with my best friend Elly, and just explore these beautiful countries that I’ve always wanted to see,” senior, Olivia Baker said. “I am already planning my outfits and figuring out how to pack all of my stuff for 10 days,”
The vacation has many different preparations that students and staff are working hard towards to prepare fully for since it’s coming up so quickly.
This trip is a great opportunity for students to branch out and use different languages they have learned here at GHS.
“Our travelers are going to have a fantastic, life-changing experience! They are going to return with new perspectives of the world, their community, and themselves,” Mrs. Ward said.
“We are still accepting travelers since we have a few available spots.”
Staff are also excited to share what they are most excited about the trip.
“I am most excited to experience Switzerland and Germany. Seeing the famous Neuschwanstein Castle that Walt Disney used as inspiration for Cinderella’s castle will be stunning, I’m sure. We are going to learn how to play the alpenhorn and have an authentic alpine hut dinner. Also, being able to walk through sites from the classic film The Sound of Music is going to be quite memorable!” Mrs.Ward said.
The reasons why students decided to grab this opportunity vary.
“I chose to go on this trip because my older sister went last year to Spain, Portugal, and Morocco and she loved it. I think it will be a very good experience for me, and I’m excited,” Baker said. “The cost is around $5,000.”
One of the biggest worries is not having a passport when going out of the country.
“I’ve been taking students abroad for many years so I don’t get nervous about much. The only thing I ever worry about is someone losing their passport,” Mrs. Ward said
Senior Elanor Guipe, wants to make her last year in high school as memorable as she can.
“I chose to go on this trip since I thought it would be a great experience to have before leaving for college,” she said. “I am most excited about traveling to Paris. I have always wanted to travel there but have never had the chance until now.”
