“3…2…Hello and welcome back to Timber Talk. Aiden, how are we feeling today?”
Timber Talk is a new branch to GHS’s journalism program ran by junior co-hosts Aiden Worgess and myself. The Timber Talk is a filmed podcast that has new ideas weekly to have the best and most interesting discussions. The Timber Talk is used to promote GHS’s journalism programs further than ever before through the most popular trend of the time: social media.
Every Timber Talk episode is built on four segments. Each episode is always different from the last. To keep Greenwood a main topic, we have The Woodshed for seasonal sports coverage and Inside the Shed for news in our school community. The Woodshed is always sure to cover every sport including the less popular. In Episode 3, swim and wrestling both got their time. Inside the shed focuses on news around the school; for example, in the third episode, Aiden and I had a special guest talk about a new club he is potentially forming.
Each episode is new and entertaining to keep the audience engaged. A fan favorite is the Chop Block, which features a Top 5 of a random category which is always followed by Stoking the Fire where we debate and discuss the Top 5. We do a great job of getting viewers involved as well. A personal favorite segment of mine is Fiery Takes. In that segment, we ask the viewers to send in their own takes to be talked about on the show. Every once in a while, we will talk about news going on outside of the school community with Beyond the Axe.
Sometimes we bring something new to our viewers, whether it is a special guest or a fun segment. In our first episode, we brought in sophomore Griffin Kroll to discuss swim. In Episode 2, we gave our backdrop more character, and in Episode 3, we brought in junior Everett Nickolaus for a full episode.
Recently, we added a new part of the show we call Loggers Lunchbox. For Loggers Lunchbox, I bring in weird or odd and new snacks to surprise Aiden.
At the end of the day, Timber Talk involves two friends talking with the common goal to entertain and to relate with viewers. Aiden and I encourage everyone to follow our Instagram and subscribe to our YouTube channel.
Be on the lookout for the newest episode today, April 10.
