Students should skip Mo’s Steakhouse and go straight to Texas Roadhouse.
Greenwood welcomes a new high-end steakhouse to US 31, Mo’s Steakhouse. The restaurant has a variety of food choices from sea bass to steak.
In comparison, Texas Roadhouse has been a Greenwood staple for years now. The fun environment and good food they provide keeps the restaurant busy. For a 6oz sirloin at Texas Roadhouse it is around $14 and comes with two sides. On the other hand, at Mo’s, sides are not included but are served family style. This means the portion sizes are larger and are meant to be shared, but each side costs $12-$24.
Both restaurants are most known for their steaks. For my entree at Mo’s, I had a 6oz filet mignon cooked medium. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great, but it was $50. I do not mind spending money, but the steak was not that good for $50. As well as it being expensive, it took some time to come out. Although the restaurant was busy and we were hungry, it felt like we waited a while for our entrees to arrive at our table.
Mo’s provides complimentary bread, but we also ordered the meatballs for an appetizer. They were good but had a weird texture as if they fell apart into ground beef crumbles after being bitten into. We also ordered two sides, lobster mac and cheese and truffle fries. The mac and cheese was very good and is easily better than Texas Roadhouse’s Kraft mac and cheese. I did not try the truffle fries. Texas Roadhouse offers similar sides like salads, mashed potatoes, fries, and veggies, but for a third of the cost.
The atmospheres of each restaurant are completely different. Texas Roadhouse is loud, fun, and family friendly. Mo’s is more quiet, reserved, and not meant for little kids. The tables and booths are very close to each other in Mo’s and made it feel kind of cramped as well.
Overall Mo’s steakhouse would be great for a special occasion, but because of price, I would never go there on the regular. Instead, I would rather listen to country music blaring and have a full meal that is just as tasty for under $20.
