Colder weather calls for warmer drip.
“My favorite current fashion trend is people bringing back nostalgic looks like baggy cargos, new balance, and mismatching top layers,” senior Aiden Walton said.
Despite the differences between boys and girls styles, both genders can agree on old trends making a comeback.
“My favorite current trend is wide legged pants, like sweats, leggings, jeans, etc. because they are comfy and can be dressed down or up. They used to be popular in the 90s so wide fitted clothing is definitely making a comeback,” senior Anesa Tevalan said.
There have been countless trends that are slowly getting repeated.
“My all time favorite fashion trend is the full highlighter outfits I used to wear in elementary school along with the roller skating shoes called heelys that everyone wanted so badly back in the day,” Walton said.
Although summer is a happy time for most, the winter styles cannot be beat.
“I like winter styles better because over summer I’m always just wearing a random tee shirt and shorts, but during the winter I can wear pants with a couple different pieces on top. It is easier and cooler in my opinion to stack clothing to make it look good as well as finding more ways to wear a certain piece and avoiding outfit repeats,” Walton said.
Nude colors and stackable items are in style.
“I work at Dicks Sporting Goods and right now the most popular things are definitely fleece hoodies and jackets and coats from brands like North Face and Carhartt,” senior Myleigh Bryant said.
Current trends are changing, though.
“With the success of IU this year, we see a lot of change in people buying IU gear instead of Purdue,” Bryant said.
Trends also depend on other factors.
“Since DICKS sporting goods is not only just apparel, it’s sports gear, and we also have a footwear collection. We see a lot more of the younger people buying equipment like basketballs, water bottles and those kinds of things and the older people tend to lean more towards apparel and shoes,” Bryant said.
It is nice to change wardrobes up every once in a while; reminiscing on old trends can spark some new interests.
“One of my favorite past trends is Adidas. They’re definitely still big, but they weren’t always a shoe that everyone wanted,” Tevalan said.
