“What’s done in the dark will be brought into the light” Luke 12:2-3. The Epstein Files has been a trending theory for years until part of them were released for the public eye.
The files include millions of collected images, documents, emails, texts, and videos that reveal the lifestyle and activities of convicted sex offender and American financier Jefferey Epstein. These files include the names of those closely associated with Epstein as well as proof of human trafficking. The controversy surrounding the Epstein Files has raised questions about the transparency of the government and how wealth and power influence the socio-politics of the world.
The first documents to be released were from in 2019 that involved emails and testimonies of witnesses. It was not until 2024 when there was a larger release of lawsuit records. Now, in 2026, the government has passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which released millions of documents to the public.
We as a staff agree that the release of these files was a success for the justice system as well as for the public. Anyone who has access to the internet now has access to one of the most important archives of documents in history. The staff believes that the release of this information will have a positive impact on the justice system because it should ensure the accountability of those in power and those who hold significant weight in the world. This is because many powerful, wealthy individuals were connected to Epstein which has raised concern about whether or not justice is equal for everyone. The government’s release of the documents could help criminals be held accountable for their actions, including those who hold power in the world. The release should threaten those who on the surface seem innocent, but deep down have evil ways. This release has strengthened the trust in justice being brought to wrongdoers.
There is no denying that Jeffrey Epstein was a sick and twisted man who coerced and exploited people for personal gain and status. Although the initial delay of the Epstein Files seemed unreasonable, the eventual release has allowed people to give their own opinion on the subject. It has also been brought to the government’s attention that the number of people that are being hidden seems overwhelming. We as a staff agree that this can be alarming as many begin to question who could they be hiding in this archive. In some cases there are blacked out photos of clothed associates with Epstein who are blocked out, but in some cases, there are nude and exploited children in the files who are not blocked out. This strengthens the idea that the justice system should act and begin to punish those who have done wrong.
The Epstein Files is not a blame game, and we as a staff agree that it involves many political people, left and right. The most important thing to come from this release of information is that the public is now able to see how their moral belief in what is right and wrong can outweigh their political belief. It is key that people come together rightfully to condemn those in the wrong and not to protect those who have done terrible things.
The Timberlines staff has come to the conclusion that the release has been proof of progression the U.S. as there is now a public demand for the accountability of the elites while also providing justice for the victims of sex-trafficking. The public pressure can be seen as a sign that democracy is working as it should be and that the government should be held liable to be transparent with its citizens.
