Many men disregard their nail health, avoiding pedicures and manicures. I decided to take action and schedule a pedicure for the first time.
During a pedicure, feet are soaked and exfoliated, nails and cuticles are trimmed, and feet are massaged. Some get nail polish as well. Pedicures are supposed to feel good and therapeutic, and I took the opportunity to decide whether or not that is true.
To take on my pedicure adventure, I chose to go to The Nail Place. It is located at 172 Melody Ave Suite B, right off of West Main St. I purchased the basic pedicure package at $35. This included a soak, cuticle care, a basic massage, and polish.
To kick off the pedicure, I spent some time soaking my feet. Once that was done, the technician began working on my cuticles, pushing them back and removing any dead skin. After that, she began removing dead skin from the bottom of my feet, ensuring they were smooth. The last part of the pedicure was a light massage. The technician massaged my feet and lower calf. That was my favorite part. The final step was the polish. To get the full experience, I went all in and chose to get color. The color I ended up going with was green.
The staff was friendly; however, the service was not great. The technician I got was nice, but she was very quiet the whole time and left me after finishing without saying anything. The pedicure was only about 30-45 minutes long and was worth it.
Overall, my experience was very relaxing. I was stressed before my appointment, and the pedicure definitely helped bring that down. It may have been the most relaxing experience I have had. As another plus, my feet felt refreshed. I felt cleaner than ever before and would have to rate the pedicure part pretty high. My only problem was how ticklish it was, I hate being tickled.
I would have to give the overall experience a 4 out of 5 on the Alex-O-Meter. Despite my bad customer service and being tickled, I enjoyed my entire experience.
