In a captivating swirl of lights and emotions, the stage was set for the fall play.

The theatre students in the fall play experienced a ton of preparation for Lend me a Tenor.

“We do a lot of practicing lines over and over again. If you have free time, you are expected to run lines. We do a lot of blocking which is where you take scenes step by step,”  freshmen Mya Lindsay Luther who played, Maria said.

Participants enjoyed making new friends and trying something they have never done before.

“I love getting to talk to people that I never thought I would talk to and goofing off with them backstage.I love when you do not expect to like or enjoy doing something but then you end up really liking it. Being in the play is just overall an amazing experience,” junior Eva Dean, who played Maggie Saunders said.

Though Dean enjoyed it for those reasons, senior Gabriel Shelton, who played Tito Merelli, enjoys it for different reasons.

“I love really connecting to the scenes and the feelings my character is supposed to feel. Acting with your friend is by far the best experience I have ever had. It’s like I can really become a different person,” Shelton said.

Before the actual show they have a pre show, a pre show is a mini show that gives the new actors or understudies a chance to have time on stage.

“Biology teacher Mr. Bonner wrote a pre-show to give the understudies a chance to show their skills since they didn’t get to be in the actual show. The pre show is a way different storyline than the actual play,” sophomore Tristan Schmitt said.

Although the play was important to these people, they still had time for fun.

“The funniest thing that has ever happened during the play is when the main lead is being chased around by a bunch of girls and he has to jump over a couch to escape them.He tripped and fell over the couch. Everyone could not stop laughing, Lindsay Luther said.

Mrs. Amy Hayes director chose this play because of how the play made her feel.

“I picked this play because of how it made me feel because going into it I had no idea what this play was about. I have never even seen or heard about it before. Watching this play really stuck with me for a while. I thought since it stuck with me then other people would really enjoy it and inspire other people like it inspired me,” Mrs. Hayes said.
