GHS hosts craft fair

Rows and rows of stocking stuffers fill the gym’s cafeteria and hallways as the athletic department hosts the craft fair at Ghs for the first time.

The craft fair will take place tomorrow. It will cost $2 for entry, and there will be 160 vendors to choose from

“We inherited the event from the Social Club here in Greenwood. They no longer wanted to host it, so we met earlier this year in January. I am in charge of getting things started, and Mrs. Glaze is involved with the organizing aspect regarding bringing in vendors and different organizations. The biggest challenge for us now will be the actual physical putting down of the booth areas and labeling them so that when vendors come in, they will know where to go,” Mr. Mike Campbell, athletic director, said.

Mr. Campbell described the in-depth plans.

“The Friday before the event, we will set up for the Athletic Department. We have a lot of coaches that will help set up. We have a Santa coming in for free pictures. It’s a 2 dollar admission to get in, but we will let parents take as many pictures as they want with Santa.

We will be covering the cost of that, but they can use their phones or cameras if they choose to,” Mr. Campbell said.

Mrs. Glaze, athletic secretary, is helping to coordinate this event.

“I am the event coordinator. I am in charge of finding and retaining vendors. This year, we are going to have around 180. I am also in charge of spectators, entertainment, and getting our food trucks organized. I basically am in charge of everything that you see at the craft fair,” Mrs. Glaze said.

Mrs. Glaze reveals just how long the process of putting together this event has taken.

“We have been working on this project since April, so after we got everything organized in April, we started accepting vendors in May, and we officially sold out in July and August. So everything has been going smoothly thus far,” she said.

This event will contribute funding.

“This event is a fundraiser for our Athletic Department. It is going to be one of our largest ones for the year. It is also a really great community event, ” Mrs. Glaze said.

Mr. Campbel clarified where the event will be taking place.

“It will be here in the school. It will be in the SAC, the Aux gym, halls 31 and 32, and the cafeteria. We have over 160 vendors coming in and food trucks, s o it will be a big day for us,” Mr. Campbell said.
