GHS holds final pep rally today

GHS gears up today for the last pep rally of the year.

“I think my expectations for the pep rally today is that everybody shows school spirit and has fun. Back in the day, they were exciting and interesting, and I wish that same experience for the students here now,” Mrs.Faith Stapleton, Student Council sponsor, said.

The spirit stick is a new tradition and it might be the most competitive aspect throughout the whole school.

“I’m hoping this pep rally will resonate more with all the classes combined to hopefully come together more as an entire school. I’m hoping for more overall student involvement which usually leads to more enthusiasm and passion to be a Woodman. By doing activities and putting up decorations that the school body would enjoy, we are trying to create the most spirit GHS has ever seen,” Ameera Hooks, sophomore vice president said.

    Student Involvement is key.

“For the next pep rally, I’m hoping to see a lot more student involvement than there has been recently. The Student Council has been planning more games to be played during the pep rally to create more competition and get everyone excited. Our main goal is for people to have fun and just enjoy having school spirit with everyone around,” senior Katie Newett said.

Being the loudest class overall at the pep rally is not the only thing that will get you the spirit stick. Behavior is also taken into consideration.

“Obviously, it’s going to be the sophomore class because we are the best class and always the most hype. We should win it this time as long as we don’t get ripped off again for the third time this year,” sophomore Ameera Hooks said.

Sophomores have a lot of spirit, but will it be enough to take back the spirit stick once and for all?

“Oh, I definitely think the sophomores will get it back this pep rally. They’re rowdy, and they make the competition really fun. They better get it back,” Mrs.Stapleton said.

The Student Council is coming together to plan one of the best pep rallies yet.

“To plan for the pep rally, we have been brainstorming activities and using feedback from the student body to influence the final decisions. We’re really just trying to gather as a collective Student Council to come up with ideas for games and decorations and make sure everyone’s having a fun time,” Newett said.

Lots of work went into planning and creating the last pep rally of the year. Show up, show out, and be loud.

“I think it is a toss up because although I’d love the seniors to take it home, the sophomores and juniors have been really excited and enthusiastic with their school spirit of late,” Newett said.
