Retro Bowl College Review

The phone football frenzy is back, the sequel to the iconic game Retro Bowl, Retro Bowl College has topped the sports chart on the app store.

The game features almost identical gameplay to the original but with improved graphics and managing options. The remaster of the classic handheld electronic football from the 1970s shares the same two-dimensional graphics and simple gameplay. Many modern games make the graphics as human-like as possible, but Retro-Bowl College took a different route using  vintage inspired graphics with a high-quality feel.

Retro Bowl college allows the player to take on a role as a college coach and manage various aspects of the team, such as recruiting, managing facilities, and maintaining the grades of the athletes.

A new layer of difficulty is added as the players in the game can only remain on a team for up to four years and they can be drafted or academically suspended before four years. While attempting to build a winning team, frequent realistic scenarios are thrown at the player to shake-up the gameplay and give each user a unique experience.

The fresh changes to the game pairing with the same, original gameplay allowed the game to explode in popularity at GHS. Many students who lost interest in the original Retro Bowl restarted their journeys to building the best teams possible.

For the true fans of the game, Retro Bowl College offers an unlimited bundle for 99 cents that allows the player even more control of the game. Users unlock the ability to change the uniforms of the teams and the coach, as well as an extra touch of realism added to the game with changing weather and controllable kick returns.

I highly recommend the game. It can be used as a simple game to kill time, or it can be played in a very strategic way. The changes in the new game make every season within the game a fresh experience.
