As students and customs change throughout the years, some things never change, like teachers who have taught generations after generations of Woodmen

“I joined Greenwood High School in 1978, so I’ve been here for a while. I just love everything about GHS: the students, the staff and the facility,” Mrs. Pam Wishmeyer, math teacher, said.

Mrs. Wishmeyer has been teaching at GHS for 46 years, including the year she was named Teacher of the Year for Greenwood schools. She has gotten into a flow and a routine throughout this time period.

“A normal day at GHS for me is getting my class ready for the day. I teach geometry and geometry honors, so I have two different lesson plans to teach. After school, I usually stay until about 9 p.m. just to grade quizzes, homework or tests,” she said.

Some years were her favorites.

“My favorite year was probably my fifth year at Greenwood. The students were just great, and I loved teaching them. I love every year at GHS, though. It has been really exciting,” she said.

She is sad to leave but excited to start her life of retirement.

“I plan on doing things that I couldn’t do while I was teaching, like taking day trips or going to some new exciting places, and enjoying my time off at my house,” Mrs. Wishmeyer said. “It has been a good run, but I’m ready to enjoy my time off. I will miss GHS a lot and the students and friendships I made along the way. I still see some students I taught.”
