Pink goes even better with green in the newly released conclusion to Wicked (2024).
As a fan of both musicals and movies, I had high expectations for Wicked: for Good. I had seen the first part, Wicked, when it was first released in November 2024 and I was very impressed. The songs, production, and costumes were very appealing and left me anxiously waiting for the second part to be released.
I went to see Wicked: for Good on opening night. I initially noticed that the theater was packed with people of many different ages. I had gone to see it with my mom and younger sister. The movie seemed to attract fans from all generations.
The film opened with the song “Every Day More Wicked,” which was a reprise of the opening song from the first movie, “No One Mourns the Wicked”. The song from the first movie was one of my favorites, and I thought the scene was very well-done.
While the vocal performances from most of the cast were great, I thought Michelle Yeoh’s portrayal of Madam Morrible vocally was not amazing. She only had a few singing lines though, so it did not take away from the overall performance. The acting was also amazing, and the cast gave very emotional and convincing performances.
I thought that the end of the film was the strongest part. It had many emotional scenes depicting Galinda and Eplhaba in a manner that the audience had never seen before. It was very emotional for both the characters and the cast. When the movie ended, almost everyone in the theater was in tears (including me).
I would recommend Wicked: for Good for Musical fans looking for a modern twist on a classic story. The movie was a very well-done conclusion to Wicked, and the actors’ performances on screen and their musical talents made the film a must-see. To understand the story in full, I would suggest that anyone interested in Wicked: for Good watch Wicked first.
