The aroma of homemade food fills the house while laughter is heard throughout each room. Friends are enjoying their time together while reminiscing about the last year and all of the memories that have been made. The end of the year is a perfect time to reflect on blessings.
“I believe that Friendsgiving is a way to have all of your close friends all together to eat and share and make more memories together. Friendsgiving is also a way for everyone to show their thanks for everyone,” sophomore Amelia Brooks said.
Friendsgiving can be a perfect time to create new memories.
“My favorite memory is when my dog jumped up and ate the pies off the tray so my mom had to restart and it sucked, but it was really funny because my dog had pie all over the kitchen and his face,” freshman Sara Weasner said.
Although Friendsgiving is about giving thanks, food is a staple in the event.
“I am usually in charge of bringing the rolls, but my favorite is buffalo chicken dip. We do not get to all be together that often anymore, so it is always a good time no matter what,” senior Braden Chase said.
Unlike Chase, junior Parker Chance’s menu for Friendsgiving switches each year.
“Typically, the foods are things like mac and cheese, rolls, and other things like mashed potatoes, but it is always different. My favorite is probably mac and cheese, though,” Chance said.
Some do Friendsgiving with non traditional foods.
“My mom usually bakes pies and breakfast food. My aunt usually brings casseroles, too. My favorite is my mom’s Oreo pie. It takes the longest to make, but it’s really good,” Weasner said.
Ultimately, Friendsgiving is to show appreciation to the ones who always show up.
“I am thankful for my friends because they are always there for me and make me laugh. Without my friends, I would not be where I am today,” freshman Henry Wood said.
Wood and Weasner both appreciate their friends always being there for them, too.
“I am so thankful for my friends because when I have a bad day they are always there to cheer me up. I could be balling my eyes out because of waking up badly or walking into a random door, but my friends will always help me laugh it off. I love how much my friends care about me and my life. It feels great having people you know love you no matter how long you haven’t hung out. Having friends to count on is such a blessing,” Weasner said.
