The Stranger Things characters prepare for the final fight with Vecna after four seasons of torture. With weapons drawn the fight begins and ends 10 minutes later?
Students are disappointed with the long-awaited ending of the Duffer Brother’s series Stranger Things.
Junior Lucas Crouch had higher hopes for the ending of Season 5.
“I disliked that the final fight with Vecna lasted 10 minutes. I wanted a bigger build up, but there was no plot twist,” Crouch said. “The Duffer Brothers were saying that no one has predicted the ending, so I was expecting a lot, but it was so predictable. Everything felt like I was just walking on the stepping path they gave me. I thought they were going to wake up and be controlled by Vecna. They skipped past so much in the end, like 18 months is so random. I did not need 40 minutes of nothing after a great show.”
The Stranger Things build-up resulted in a lackluster ending.
“I really wish the main battle was longer. It was a two-hour episode, and the main battle was eight minutes. Every season was built up to that point because all of the demogorgons are caused by or affiliated with him. The payoff wasn’t there,” sophomore Ryan Morehead said.
With the incomplete plot, fans are left wondering about the characters left out in Season 5.
“I think the Duffer Brothers could have looked to see what characters haven’t got time other than focusing on the main picture stuff,” Morehead said. “There were a lot of minor details that turned into plot holes because I think they were focusing too much on the ending. I wonder where some of the characters like Argyle and Susy are.”
With the Conformity Gate theory floating around, some fans believe it only to be a theory rather than a reality.
“I think Eleven died. Mike is just grieving. All of these theories are coming up, but she is dead. Rest in peace to her,” Crouch said. “I think there are better things that could have happened to Eleven, but I understand because nobody else died in the finale. I think it was an appropriate ending for her, sadly.”
There is a .008 out of .011 that Eleven’s death was a creation of psycho-hallucikinesis
“I am 50/50 about Eleven’s ending,” Alexander said. “With Kali dying, she could have made everybody else see that Eleven was dead, but I feel like with the time Kali got shot and Eleven disappeared, Kali would already have been dead.”
The spacing for Stranger Things relationships left the arc for the main character unknown.
“The Duffer Brothers were trying to end so many character arcs that they didn’t have time for Eleven,” Morehead said. “They wanted to get all of these endings for relationships for other people, so they didn’t get enough time for her.”
As the season progressed, character Mike Wheeler’s writing did not.
“Mike is definitely the most poorly written character. In the end, he was just one of your weird uncles that writes for a living,” Crouch said. “In the beginning, everyone thought of him as one of the main characters because he was active and talking. Eventually, he became nothing. He might as well be me because I wasn’t even in the show.”
With the new developments of character Will Byers’ powers, his overall character turned Upside Down.
“Will was the most poorly written because the first couple minutes of the season was about Will, but after they defeated the mind flayer, Will wasn’t a big part of the show although he was the one who originally started it all,” sophomore Alexander said.
Main character Eleven’s script was sent Rolling Down the Hill.
“Eleven was the most poorly written. She was very flat,” Morehead said. “In the other seasons, she had growth, and I guess she accepted herself more in this season, but other than that, she didn’t do much.”
