Teachers with side hustles

Many students do not think about their teachers having likes outside of school, let alone other jobs. However, some teachers enjoy other activities while earning extra cash.

Mr. Ethan Kuntz found an alternate way to make money and have fun while doing it. He also said it helped with his teaching job and social skills.

“I am a bartender at Stone Creek Dining Company, and I started about four years ago. I like playing with flavors and drinks, and it also helps with my social skills, which I can carry over to my teaching job,” Mr. Kuntz said.

Mr. Andy Bass works as a summer school teacher and the rest of the year works at dicks.

“I work at dicks and enjoy working there more than I do, than working at summer school. However, the benefits of summer school are greater,” Mr. Bass said.

As most students know, teachers have been pushing for better pay. Until that is put in place, some find other ways to make extra bank, like Mr. Kevin Leineweber.

“I have a rental house in Clayton, IN. It is on about two acres of land, an d the rent pays for the house mortgage,” Mr. Kevin Leineweber said.

Many teachers also take up coaching as a second income.

“I have a passion for dance, so I coach dance at the school. I have been the coach for the dance team for about two years. I also picked up waitressing, Ale Emporium, and I have been waitressing for about 6 months.” Ms. Cinnamon said.

Having multiple jobs could be good or bad.

“I don’t feel like it negatively affects my teaching job; it almost benefits it. I have a set schedule that allows me to have enough time for teaching. I also only mainly work in the summer. I would say it benefits my teaching job because it allows me to be more social.” Mr. Kuntz said.

Many teachers do not get a lot of free time, especially when balancing a second job, but some teachers enjoy the job enough that it feels like a mini break from their day-job of teaching.

“Honestly mixing the drinks and meeting new people is really fun. It is satisfying to mix different things and create something completely different,” Mr Kuntz said.
