Anti-Turkey Review

There is only one thing worse than waking up in the middle of the night thirsty, and that is turkey.

To be specific, a Thanksgiving turkey. Having to wait all day to eat is bad enough, and then spending 30 minutes chewing the food really puts a damper on the whole day. Many people enjoy eating turkey on Thanksgiving because it is a tradition. However, people are never seen eating it any other time of the year. This fact alone just proves that it is not good food.

Many families try to compensate for the bad taste by cooking it all day in a turkey fryer. Not only does the fryer never work, but it starts numerous fires every year. Yet again ruining a beloved holiday. Even if it is cooked in a safer way, like an oven, turkey is still always dry.

If people took time to look around, they would notice that many restaurants are now open on Thanksgiving. This was not a thing even 10 years ago. People have either started to get lazy or opened their eyes and realized that the main dish is disgusting. The time it takes to cook just one dish makes it not enjoyable, creating a great business opportunity for restaurants.

Perfecting a turkey is extremely hard, but it can be done. The harsh reality is that people have stopped making home-cooked meals and started going out to eat. One in four Americans are going out to eat at least once a week, according to dosomething.org. Because of this, turkey either comes out right.or it has no seasoning or too much seasoning. The turkey may be okay, but there is always something that is not quite right with it. No one wants a bare turkey or a turkey that is so overpowered with seasonings that it tastes like eating seasoning straight out of a bottle.

Lastly, having the stress of making a turkey all day can cause many arguments on an already stressful day. I do not think many families get an entire day without getting into at least one argument about the food, and turkey is a very controversial food that people like done a certain way. If it is not cooked to expectations, the cook gets many complaints. Nobody wants to spend all day cooking just to hear everyone complaining.

If turkey were not served at Thanksgiving dinner, people would not only be satisfied with the food but also spend more time with family in a loving environment.
