Golfers welcome new coach

With the sour ending to boys golf last year, GHS players are turning to a new coach, adding enthusiasm for the upcoming season.

This new coach adds positivity to the team, leaving the boys excited and prepared for the next season.

“The new coach gives us a new outlook compared to last year’s. We get new instructions and a new view of our skills and what to improve,” junior Davis Arthur said.

This season also adds new responsibilities to juniors since the team has an absence of any seniors this season.

“Me, Jahlen [Burton], and Cruse [Glidden] are all going to be leading the team this year making it a weird dynamic because we are all still learning while trying to lead the younger guys,” Arthur said.

With the team now relying on junior leadership, Burton looks for improvement.

“My biggest thing I need to improve this year is to make it out of Sectionals since last year none of us made it to regionals,” he said.

Some sophomores are also looking to step into pivotal roles for the team.

“Since I have already played one year I understand how and what I need to improve. I know now what the team needs and how I can help improve the team. Leadership and understanding how I can become a better player, while also helping teammates is what I am focusing on this season,” sophomore Braden Chase said.

The new season also brings new underclassmen.

“I am most excited for the new bonds that I am getting to form. I know the upperclassmen assisting the younger kids will not only help us this season but also the seasons to come,” junior Cruse Glidden said.

The team sets off for their first meet at Edinburgh for their first invitational on March 30th at 10 a.m.
