Prom is just around the corner, and with the date approaching, it is important to be up to date on popular styles, colors, and fits of dresses and tuxedos

Dress shopping can be difficult for some people; however, there are Prom dress shops that have a variety of styles and colors making it easier to find the perfect dress.

“We have a large selection of dresses nearing the Prom season, a lot of our dresses feature iridescent details and a lot of details like sparkles and rhinestones. I would say the color of the year would be a hot or light pink dress, which is incredibly similar to last year. But, something that is really different from last year is that a lot of girls are going for a more elegant light blue or gold rather than the bright flashy colors of last year,” Kailey., Windsor sales associate said.

While Prom dress styles are constantly changing, tuxedo styles have remained the same over the last few years. Most guys are choosing to stick to simple, classic looks.

“This year we honestly have not had that many people come in for Prom tuxedos. Typically, we will have guys come in like a week before their Prom, and they are usually scrambling to find one that they like and that fits them well. The trends we are expecting this year with the suits will most likely be the same as years prior. Most guys go for blues, greens, or just a simple black,” Mike, Louis sales associate, said.

At Bargain Bridal, finding an affordable but beautiful dress is not as difficult as it may seem. With a large selection of gowns and dresses, Bargain Bridal presents the most affordable way to enjoy Prom night.

“Our gowns are ranging from $39-$99 right now. We have a large selection of dresses, a lot of them having what is popular right now, such as having sparkles, pockets, and a slit in the dress.  Most of the dresses that girls have gotten for Prom so far have been tight fitting, simple dresses without a lot of poof or ruffles,” Hailey, Bargain Bridal sales associate, said.

While prom is nearing it is typical for guys to wait until closer to the date for multiple reasons: waiting for their date to pick a dress, making sure it is a good fit, and procrastination.

“So far, we have not been able to sell any tuxedos for Prom yet. My assumption is that the guys are going to wait until the last minute to get their tuxedos, and we will get a big rush in April or May of guys that have waited until right before Prom to get their tuxedos. We do not offer student rates, but we do have promotional rates,” Shawn, Men’s Wearhouse, sales associate, said.
