F1 Season Begins

F1+Season+Begins

The 2024 Formula One Racing season is revving up all across the globe.

Formula One is the most followed racing program across all platforms and has been rapidly expanding in popularity in America.

The United States has recently received the green-light to host two new races in Miami and Las Vegas. The Miami Grand Prix has over 400,000 spectators and still maintains the highest average cost to attend with tickets ranging from $2,000 to $2 million.

Netflix published a tv show inspired by Formula One called “Drive to Survive” which is part of the cause of the explosion of popularity in the racing series across the U.S.

The Red Bull Racing Team looks to maintain their dominance in Formula with their drivers finishing in the Top 2 positions last year. Dutch driver for Red Bull Racing, Max Verstappen, looks to maintain his streak of success and win his fourth consecutive World Championship in 2024.

For the first time in Formula One history, no drivers changed teams during the off-season. All 10 teams kept both of their drivers from the 2023 season. There were also minimal changes in the car regulations for the season, so the 2024 season should have a similar outcome to the 2023 season.

The big excitement across the racing world, however, was seven-time world champion and most followed driver in the sport, Lewis Hamilton, announcing his change of teams. On the first day of pre-season practice, Hamilton posted that he would be leaving Mercedes and moving to Ferrari due to a $300 million contract.

The F1 2024 season is still young, with four out of 24 races being completed. The race for the world championship is much closer than expected with four races in with Max Verstappen not finishing the Australian Grand Prix. That left the door wide open for Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc potentially to win the championship.

The fifth race of the season is set to take place in Shanghai, China on April 21st. As it is a race across the world from Greenwood, it starts at 3 A.M. Eastern Time. It is the first race hosted by China in 5 years.
