Boys golf vs. Decatur

Boys+golf+vs.+Decatur

The boys golf team is getting into full swing.

The golf team has been practicing every week, and they have personalized practices that are unique compared to most sports.

“Our practices are different from most other sports. We have been practicing two days a week at the Valle Vista golf course. At Valle Vista, we can choose which part of our game we want to work on. We also have practices at Smock to use their driving range and work on our swings there,” junior Davis Arthur said.

The Woodmen face off against Decatur on April 30 at the Winding River golf course.

“In the past few years, we have matched up against Decatur well. A lot of us on the team are familiar with their home course which usually gives us an advantage compared to other road matches. We are all confident going into this meet,” Arthur said.

The Woodmen have a promising season ahead of them.

“This season we are hoping to compete during Sectionals. We think we have a real shot to win it. County will be more of a challenge with Center Grove,” junior Cruse Glidden said.

The golfers are also aiming to make personal strides in their games.

“I am hoping to improve from my results from last year. I have been playing a lot of golf, whether it was at practice or with friends, and I think that should help me going into the season,” Arthur said.

The golfers are excited to get this season underway.

“I’m ready for the season to start. I’ve been golfing during the off-season, and I think I am going to be better than last year,” Glidden said.

Experience is expected to be a big factor this season.

“I feel like the last two seasons should help me going into this season. I am now in my junior year so I know more things and how the matches should go,” Arthur said.
