The Lady Woodmen are back in action on Monday against the Warren Central Warriors on the Warrior’s field.

The team has paired well with Warren Central in the past beating the Warriors 16-0 during their 2022 season. The team goes into this game with confidence.

“I believe the team will do well against Warren. Lately, we’ve been working on strategies that I believe will benefit us. We also have done well against Warren in the past and hopefully we can keep that streak. I believe it will be an eventful game and an even match up. I really think our whole infield is very important. Having a defense that can make plays and get outs is crucial in being successful,” senior Avery Kraesig, catcher, said.

The team has been working hard in practice to improve in every area they can, including continuing to form a strong team chemistry.

“The team has been practicing very hard. We hit and field almost every day, which is what really gets us prepared for our games. We always begin practices with stretching and getting warm, but after that, it is full force and we’re getting after it whether that be hitting, fielding, or both. I fully believe that the main things that we have during practices that helps us in games is our energy and believing and trusting each other,” senior Emma Chism, 3rd baseman, said.

The team has worked on bonding and know that they will have to work together in order to solidify their win against Warren Central.

“We have been becoming more of a team, too working on team bonding and becoming a family. I think we need all of the girls on the team in order to win this game. I feel that way about all of our games. Everybody has a job whether that be hitting, pitching, fielding, catching, cheering on each other, or just being there. We all have a role and it’s what makes us a team,” senior Courtney Hankenhoff, pitcher, said.

With the leadership of Hankenhoff and working together to pull together some solid swings, the Lady Woodmen plan to take home a win..

“I am excited to play Warren Central, and I think that we can win against them. We have been preparing by practicing whenever we can and focusing on hitting so we can score. I think that Courtney will help contribute a lot being our senior pitcher and a good hitter,” sophomore Isabella Blythe, shortstop, said.

Warren Central is known for a few standout players; however, the Lady Woodmen pride themselves on having a team full of standout players.

“I am excited to play Warren Central. I think we have a very solid team this year, and we have full capability of winning against them. Warren Central has pretty solid players on their team, but we have a full team of solid players. We might go back and forth for the first couple of innings, but I think we will be able to win it after all. As long as we believe in each other, we will be able to come out with a win in the end,” Chism said.
