Graduation information

Graduation+information

It is finally time for seniors to take their walk across the stage for the diploma and final GHS memory.

On May 24 the Class of 2024 and their families and friends will gather in the main gym one last time.

At 6:00 the door 31N will be opened to students and their guests with wristbands that the students will get at the practice ceremony before graduation. GHS is big on making graduation a moment to remember, and one way they push this is allowing the students to personally pick who gives them their diploma. This could be any teacher from the senior year or a teacher who impacted them along the way.

“One thing I find special about our graduation is that our students can pick who gives them their diploma. This creates a great experience for both the students and the teachers,” Principal, Micheal Gasaway said.

The graduation ceremony will take approximately an hour with the principal, vice principal, superintendent, and certain students speaking.

“Other schools are surprised when I tell them that our graduation will only last about on hour with how many students we have and what we do at our ceremony,” Mrs. Lisa Laug, guidance director said.

Graduation is meant to be a time of celebrating, and GHS tries to make that the main focus as the short ceremony allows families to see their students walk across the stage without too much extra stuff.

“I love the length of our graduation ceremony because we know that the parents really just care about seeing their child get the diploma, and this allows them to do this without spending their whole day so they can celebrate,” Mr. Gasaway said.

Graduation is a last chance to see the entire Class of 2024 as they leave the school and to look back on the impact they made in our school and communities.

“The Class of 2024 is a very special group of people. They have been the leaders for the past year, and this has really been a great year. A lot of it is due to this year’s senior class. They were really great people,” Mr. Gasaway said.

The graduation finishes up a full week of senior activities providing for a memorable way to close the book on their Greenwood school careers.

“Graduation is the final thing for seniors after following the senior field day that we all hope they enjoy, a breakfast, and a walk through the elementary schools. There is also an honors day to celebrate our best students,” Mrs. Laug said.
