Student’s embrace the hustle

Students+embrace+the+hustle

A study by scientists indicates that students who worked part-time jobs 20 hours a week during their senior years, earn 20% more than others 6-9 years after graduation.

Whether a teenager works in the mall or whether they work at McDonald’s, having a job is an overall positive experience. Having a job helps someone become more social, have better time management skills, and become more independent. It helps them develop soft and hard skills that they will use and carry on throughout their lives. Working teaches teens the skills that are ultimately necessary to hold jobs in the future.

Working does not have to be a dreadful experience for teens. There are many unique places that offer jobs to fit each teens wants and needs. If someone has a favorite store, they can apply there and even get an employee discount. Whether it is a clothing store or a restaurant, everyone has a preference.

Some teachers may argue that working can take away from a student’s studies, but working overall has better effects. Starting to work at a young age gives someone exposure to the workforce and solely prepares them for jobs they will have in the future. Not all students will use the curriculum used in school, like manual labor, so working better prepares them for their future jobs.

Dealing and handling money also prepares students. Putting certain amounts aside or saving money until the next paycheck teaches students how to be financially secure with their money. This will put them further ahead than a student without a job.

Anyone who has not considered getting a job or thinks that they do not have time for it, students should know that many jobs offer flexibility with scheduling. Getting a job has only positive benefits and will ultimately make someone better off for their future. So, this is your sign to get a job that you love doing and earn money while doing it.
