Senior Advice

Underclassmen buckle up for the ride of High School, while seniors are about to get off the long awaited ride.

“Freshman need to learn how to stay on top of their school work. Don’t fall behind because it’s hard to catch up. Seniors should know that it’s super important to get your senior capstone done as fast as possible. Making sure you have all of your stuff done so when it comes time to present you aren’t stressed out,” senior Amare Middleton says.

Even though High School can be stressful, students need to realize that we are only teenagers. .

“Freshman should understand that we are all teenagers, everyone is learning and growing each day! School isn’t as hard as people make it out to be. Enjoy it while you can, it flies by,” senior Ava Smith says.

Friendships can often help people navigate high school easier and make it more enjoyable.

“My favorite part of High School was meeting my best friends in the entire world. They helped me through everything and I wouldn’t be who I am without them. I know no matter what where life takes us we will always be grateful for these past few years together,” senior Maggie Boyce says.

Even though school doesn’t always have to be about academics, students often find themselves confiding in their sports as a way to escape from the school mentality. It’s not just about the thrill of competition, High School sports provide incredible opportunities to build friendships, develop teamwork skills, while staying active.

“If I could do anything again here at Greenwood I would play my entire senior football season again. I would definitely change how the schedule works. I loved playing sports here at Greenwood and I would do it all over again everyday if I was able to,” Middleton said.

Being a good student isn’t about turning in all of your work on time and it being correct. Some of the best students are often involved in lots of things inside of school like sports and clubs.

“There’s always room for improvement on and off the court. No matter how good you think you are, you should always push yourself, your friends, and your teammates to the best of their ability. For seniors they need to give 100% every time they do something, whether that’s school work or playing in a sports game. You never want to leave school knowing that you could have tried harder,” senior Charlee Mayo says.

Cherishing every special moment while in school can lead to some of the best memories throughout your teenage years.

“My favorite part of high school was the softball team. I loved being a part of a family type environment with my best friends. Seniors should enjoy everything while it’s here because the year flies by. I loved being involved in extracurricular activities and it really helped me shape who I am and who I’m friends with,” senior Courtney Hankenhoff says.

Football games, pep-rallies, and school dances are often some of the most beloved traditions here at GHS.

“My favorite part of high school was the social events. I loved going to football games and dressing up with all of my friends then hanging out with them afterwards. Pep-rallies are super fun too, it’s fun to watch all of the games the students participate in. The community here at Greenwood is really strong, and I feel like there’s a specific group of teachers and students who strive to make it better here every single day and I love it,” Smith says.
