For some people, sports play a big role in their lives, despite how the sports became important to them.
Among other extracurriculars, sports allow for growing relationships, memories, and interactions between the teams.
“My favorite part of being on the soccer team is that I can meet new people and form friendships with them,” freshman Jose Moreno said.
Sometimes, people play for other clubs or teams to build connections with more than one team.
“I used to play club at SCSA, a travel club, for two years, but then I injured my leg. As of now, I’m playing indoor soccer at GCA with a couple of guys from the soccer team here. Other than that, I have mostly played for the school,” senior Kyrin York said.
Committing to a sport like soccer involves hard work and training outside of practice and games to stay in shape.
“I usually prepare for a season by working out or playing an alternative sport to keep me in shape,” freshman Jefferson Delmonte said.
Many people become interested in sports through a coach’s motivation or coaching strategies.
“I was introduced to soccer in 6th grade by one of my old coaches, and ever since then, I have been playing soccer,” York said.
