The Woodmen football team is looking to be at their best for the 2024 football season. The team is destined for greatness, and if they lose, it will not be because of hard work.
The team started spring practice after Spring Break to get ready for the next season.
“We practice two days a week in the morning before school to get back in football shape,” freshman Davion Jones said.
After getting his feet in water last year on the varsity field, freshman Benjamin Hommell is expected to have a big jump in year two.
“This off-season I have worked on getting stronger in the weight room to prepare my body for this upcoming year,” Hommell said.
The speed of the game is definitely something everyone has to get used to making that transition.
“I have also worked to get faster by doing track so I can keep up with the game next year,” Hommell said.
The Woodmen plan on working more on defense this year than last year. Without a strong defense, the team will struggle to win games with their difficult schedule.
“Our offense was very good last year, but we struggled to win games because our defense wasn’t as strong. We hope to be just as strong on defense as we are on offense this season,” sophomore Gunner Ruppert said.
