The track season is up and running for the Woodmen 2024 season.
“I usually try to stretch after I’m done with my events, and I also try to drink as much water as possible,” senior Chase Monroe said.
Freshman Benjamin Hommell talked on how he recovers and prepares for his track meets. “I prepare by stretching a lot before and after the meet and always make sure I listen to my body. I never try to push it too much while I am running,” Hommell said.
Most of his teammates have a similar routine even though some people have been on the team longer than others.
Junior Dominick Williams explained how he prepares. “We do a variety of different workouts every practice, so sometimes we do shorter sprints and other times we’ll do longer distance runs. We do both so that we are fully conditioned for meets and our running game can be fully rounded instead of focusing on one area of running,” he said.
The track team also has some newcomers, even some from different countries.
Junior Miguel Dias Portugal exchange student said, “I usually stretch a lot before the track meet, and also sometimes I do in place jumps for some adrenaline for high jump. For running, I do leg swings to get my legs warm.”
