If anyone is looking for a nice apple orchard to visit during the fall season, can look no further than AppleWorks in Trafalgar. The orchard is located in scenic Johnson County, with big red barns and multiple ponds. It has free admission and is a must see and do this fall.
With more than 50 varieties of apples and 9,000 trees, AppleWorks is one of the biggest orchards in Indiana. There are plenty of apples to pick from, so visitors are sure to find an apple they will like and enjoy. I go there almost every year not only with my family, but with my friends too. It’s a great place to go and hangout this fall. I sampled the apple cider slushies, and they were amazing! It was a great refresher for the remaining summer heat of early fall, and the petting zoo was great as always.
In addition to apples, the orchard also offers fall activities, such as corn mazes, playgrounds for children, a pumpkin patch, and my favorite, the goods shop. No matter what age, I’m sure AppleWorks has something for everyone to enjoy. The pumpkin patch was not the best this year. It was pretty cleared out and did not have many great choices, but the hayride to the patch makes the experience special. The playground looked really fun for the younger visitors; it looked like they added another big slide since I went there last.
My favorite part is the goods shop. Every time I go, it seems that they create a new product. Not only is their apple butter some of the best I have ever had, but one of the best things about AppleWorks is the quality of the apples. The apples are fresh, crisp, and delicious, and I can taste the difference between these apples and ones I might find at a grocery store. Visitors can also purchase apple cider, flavored popcorn, candy, and other products at the orchard’s store.
AppleWorks is a must-visit during the fall season. With its stunning scenery of trees and hills all around, to the way that their apple butter slides onto some toast, AppleWorks is one of my favorite fall activities and has been since I was a kid.
