Should Greenwood get two week long breaks during fall

We have returned from our two-week breaks for the quarter, but is this really how our fall schedule should be? Are there better options?

At our school we get a week off for Fall Break at the beginning of the second quarter and a week for Thanksgiving. Every school around us does something different as White land has two weeks for Fall Break and only three days for Thanksgiving. Franklin also has three days for Thanksgiving for their break. Center Grove, however, has the same schedule as we do with one week for both. I think we should follow the same type of schedule as Franklin and have one week for Fall Break and only three days for Thanksgiving.

I think one week for Fall Break is perfect. It is enough time to get a break from school, but it is not too long where I feel like I have too much time off. I think Fall Break should stay short while Winter and Spring Break stay at two weeks. With a break at Thanksgiving Break, an additional week for Fall Break would be too much, and this might take time out of another break or the summer.

I think that Thanksgiving Break should be shortened to three days because I would rather have those two days off later in the year when there are no other breaks than during November because there is already a week for Fall Break, and then not long after Thanksgiving Break there is Winter Break. The first half of our year takes all of the days off, and then there is a terribly long stretch to the end of the year.

The days we would save from Thanksgiving Break could be placed in the second half of our year to give a much needed break in the late winter and spring. After Winter Break there are 10 weeks before Spring Break with only one day off and one snow makeup day. Then, after Spring Break,  there are seven and a half weeks before the end of school with only one makeup snow day. I would rather these days be placed in the second half of the year to give us some long weekends before or after spring break. This could also help avoid some of the third quarter slumps that students experience. The breaks would only be an extra day added to the weekend, but the extra relaxing day could turn out to be very beneficial. I think this creates a perfect balance of giving students the break they need for the Thanksgiving holiday and still creating an easier second half of the year.
